Discussions were held on the role of e-commerce platforms in facilitating SMEs’ access to global markets, as well as on training and support mechanisms in the field of e-commerce.
An international webinar titled “Enhancing SME Participation in Trade: Expanding Market Access Through the Development of E-Commerce” was organized within the framework of the Business Council of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), jointly arranged by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) and the CICA Secretariat.
The event, held in an online format, brought together representatives of relevant institutions from CICA member states. Delegates from Azerbaijan, Jordan, Russia, India, and Thailand delivered presentations during the webinar. The presentations provided information on Azerbaijan’s investment opportunities, the role of e-commerce platforms in enabling SMEs’ access to global markets, available tools for expanding SMEs’ foreign economic activity through e-commerce, as well as training and support mechanisms in this domain. Thailand’s experience in the digital transformation of SMEs was presented as a model example. The discussions also touched upon enhancing SME participation in cross-border trade through digital platforms, improving logistics solutions, and strengthening cooperation among competent institutions of CICA member states for experience sharing and the implementation of joint initiatives.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan holds the chairmanship of CICA for the period 2024-2026. The CICA Business Council is chaired by KOBİA on behalf of Azerbaijan. The webinars conducted within this framework aim to strengthen SMEs’ participation in regional trade and to foster cooperation and exchange of experience among member countries.
