An international conference on "The role of ombudsmen and national human rights institutions in the field of business and human rights" was held in Baku dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMB), Orkhan Mammadov, noted the role of ombudsmen and national human rights institutions in solving problems in various sectors, as well as in the field of business, and informed about the Agency's activities in the direction of protecting the legal interests of SMBs. It was noted that the Agency established its activities in close cooperation with businesses, on the basis of studying their needs, problems and development trends. A number of field meetings held within the scope of the public-private sector platform, various surveys carried out among SME subjects, and periodic analysis of business application submissions are crucial tools for monitoring the business environment and creating appropriate support measures. KOBİA treats the requests of entrepreneurs with special sensitivity and provides the necessary support within its mandate, organizes tripartite discussions with the participation of relevant state institutions and tries to resolve the issues through dialogue within the legislative framework.
