Azerbaijan Investment and Young Entrepreneurs Forum in Baku

On November 17, Azerbaijan Investment and Young Entrepreneurs Forum started its work in Baku with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the organization of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).


Participants in the forum, which was held for the second year in partnership with ICYF, included government representatives, businesspeople, investors, startups, youth organisations, representatives of international organisations, and diplomats from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member countries.


The purpose of the forum is to encourage investment in our country with the participation of local and international organizations, representatives of government agencies, businessmen, investors, experts and startups and to inform them about investment opportunities, to develop a new vision in the field of supporting young entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, Eurasia and member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and to discuss ways to strengthen the startup ecosystem.


According to the traditions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the event started with the recitation of the Holy Quran.


Then the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan address to the forum participants was read. 


The Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev, First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev, Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Economic Affairs Ahmad Kavesa Sengendo, Head of the Financial Office of the President of the Republic of Türkiye Göksel Aşan, Head of the Secretary of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Yousef Hasan Halavi, Director General of Türkiye Wealth Fund Selim Arda Ermut, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) Orkhan Mammadov and President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum Taha Ayhan spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the forum. 


The forum will continue its work with panel discussions on "Human capital and entrepreneurship in OIC countries", "The role of youth in promoting innovation and technologies" and "Strengthening the development of startups: Building an effective investment ecosystem". An exhibition is also hosted as part of the event, where the initiatives of about 50 startups from OIC countries are displayed. The exhibition presents startup projects on food and agricultural technologies, "green industry", fintech, games and applications, environment and renewable energy, smart technologies, aviation and space technology, logistics and "smart city", robotics. The exhibition's goal is to promote the financing of startup projects by about 30 investors attending the forum, to help young entrepreneurs and companies from OIC countries gain prominence on a global scale.


Within the context of the forum, businesspeople, investors, and entrepreneurs held bilateral discussions.


Panel discussions on "Key players of the future: Global entrepreneurs" and "The road to Unicorn: Investors' expectations" will be held at the forum tomorrow, November 18, as part of its ongoing work.
