Azerbaijan-Switzerland business forum held 14.12.22

The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) and the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO collaborated to organize the Azerbaijan-Swiss business forum, which took place in Baku on December 14 with the support of the Ministry of Economy.

Participants included businesspeople from the areas of industry, agriculture, ICT, banking, healthcare, construction, logistics, transport, finance, food, etc. in addition to representatives from both countries' governments.

First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev spoke at the event and emphasized the progress of the 30-year-old bilateral ties between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Confederation, and provided information on economic and trade relations. The First Deputy Minister emphasized that the business forum will contribute to the expansion of economic partnership and the creation of new opportunities.

Co-chairman of the Joint Commission on trade and economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Swiss Federal Council, the representative of the Federal Council on Trade Agreements of the Swiss Confederation, the head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Department of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs Ervin Bollinger presented his thoughts on the potential paths for the extension of collaboration and underlined the interest of his country's businesspeople in the economy of Azerbaijan.

Orkhan Mammadov, the Chairman of the Board of KOBİA, spoke about the support that the Agency can offer to international entrepreneurs looking to set up business in our country, in finding local partners and working on joint projects with SMEs and other topics.

The head of AZPROMO, Yusif Abdullayev, emphasised the value of economic ties between Swiss and Azerbaijani business circles and provided information on the initiatives taken to promote the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand.

Presentations were made by Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone on the investment potential of the economic zone, by Zohrab Gadirov, the Deputy Executive Director of AZPROMO, on business and investment opportunities of Azerbaijan, by President of the Swiss-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) Claude Haegi, Managing Director of the Swiss United Chamber of Commerce (JCC) Dorit Sallis, Head of JCC Azerbaijan Branch Leyla Bagirzadeh and Chief Executive Officer of "ISR Holding", Co-Chairman of SACCI's Operations Committee Rauf Khalilov on cooperation between the business people of both countries.

Businessmen met on a bilateral basis within the forum's framework and had conversations about growing existing partnerships and establishing new ones.
