"AzerGold" CJSC and KOBİA successfully implement the project "Support for the development of beekeeping in Dashkasan district"

Organized by the "AzerGold" Closed Joint Stock Company (CJSC) and supported by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), the project "Support for the development of beekeeping in Dashkasan district" was successfully carried out.

On June 20, an award ceremony was held for beekeepers who took part in the project at Chovdar Integrated Regional Processing Area (CIRPA) located in Dashkasan district.

Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "AzerGold" CJSC, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA, Ahad Abiyev, Head of Dashkasan District Executive Power, Niyazi Safarov, Advisor to the Minister of Economy, Bayandur Rzayev, Head of the Livestock Organization and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Elmaddin Gurbanov, Head of the Ganja-Dashkasan Regional Employment Branch of the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and other officials took part in the event.

Speaking at the event, Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of "AzerGold" CJSC, pointed out to the fact that since 2016, the state-owned company operating under his management has contributed to the development of the non-oil and gas sector of our country by organizing its activities based on progressive international experience and standards in the field of mining. The Chairman of the Board stated that successful mining and processing activities have exported 358,000 ounces of gold and 712,000 ounces of silver over the past 7 years. Over 11,000 ounces of gold and 76,000 ounces of silver were sent to the domestic market in the past period to develop the local jewellery market. He also noted that since 2017, the total revenues have exceeded 1 billion manats due to the sales operations carried out in the domestic and foreign markets. It was also underlined that "AzerGold" CJSC has grown into one of the most important exporting state-owned companies of the non-oil and gas sector of our country.

In the light of this high economic performance, Z.Ibrahimov mentioned that the main principles of the activity of "AzerGold" CJSC are the efficient use of natural resources, the application of the concept of sustainable development and social responsibility. He also pointed out to the fact that active work is being carried out to support the socio-economic development of local communities within the scope of the Social Impact and Responsibility Policy adopted by the "AzerGold" CJSC. These projects are developed and carried out given the specific characteristics of the district, the criteria of needs of local communities, and socio-economic needs.

Subsequently, Z. İbrahimov provided detailed information on the project "Support for the development of beekeeping in Dashkasan district". And noted that the primary objective is to make a further contribution to the adopted state programs regarding the socio-economic development of the districts, the pro-social state policy successfully pursued under the leadership of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev by developing the small business ecosystem in Dashkasan district, promoting beekeeping as a way of eco-entrepreneurship and boosting the production of natural honey.

Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA stated that the project carried out in Dashkasan district with significant potential for the development of beekeeping, is a noteworthy socio-economic initiative for the region. He is also confident that the beekeeping farmers who benefited from this opportunity will bring about favourable results in their economic activities and will be capable of  expanding their farms further.

Ahad Abiyev, Head of Dashkasan District Executive Power stated that the project implemented by "AzerGold" CJSC, which is also a contribution to the socio-economic development of the region and the non-oil gas sector of our country with its effective involvement, along with KOBİA, boosted the economic opportunities of the locals by applying the most up-to-date technologies in the field of mining,

Speaking at the event, representatives of the Ministries of Economy, Agriculture and Labor and Social Protection of the Population expressed their great appreciation of the "Support for the development of beekeeping in Dashkasan district" project to promote beekeeping as a sustainable business activity in Dashkasan district in accordance with the goals and objectives of the adopted state programs regarding the socio-economic development of the regions.

At the end of the event, certificates were awarded to the beekeepers who successfully completed training and practical exercises. Assets presented to beekeepers as part of the project, including beehives and honey-making machines fully equipped with essential goods and materials were reviewed.

It is worth highlighting that the "Support for the development of beekeeping in Dashkasan district" project has been implemented for two years now. Residents of the village and other settlements located near the "Chovdar" gold mine, where "AzerGold" CJSC performs extraction and production activities, took part in the project. 24 beekeepers operating in Chovdar, Bayan, Gushchu and Zaylik villages of Dashkasan district derived benefit from the project, which was implemented for the first time in 2022. A total of 32 farmers living in the villages of Chovdar, Bayan, Gushchu, as well as in the area called Shadakh involved in this year's project.
