Baku hosts international event "Empowering SMEs: Economic diversification and green growth"

On December 1, Baku hosted the International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises' (INSME) 18th Annual Meeting. “Empowering SMEs: Economic diversification and green growth” was the focus of the event, which was co-organised by INSME and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), the member of the organization. 


State officials, business owners, representatives of international organizations and institutions from different countries of the world that are INSME members attended the meeting organized for the first time in our country. 


This year's meeting's main goals are to promote the role of innovation in green growth, to uncover the potential of entrepreneurship in the face of global crises, to reflect on how SMEs can cope with energy crises and how governments should step in, and to expand networking among people with fresh ideas in this direction.


Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, President of the International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME) Sergio Arzeni, Head of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency - AZPROMO Yusif Abdullayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev, "ToJoy" President and former Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme, Director General of the Small and Medium Business Promotion Agency of Bulgaria Boyko Takov, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA Orkhan Mammadov spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

Following that, KOBİA and the Bulgarian SME Promotion Agency as well as INSME and the World Business Forum signed memorandums of understanding on collaboration.


The event will continue its work throughout the day with panel discussions on "Sustainability and Energy Challenges for SMEs", "SME Preparedness to Cope with the Current and Future Crisis", "Promoting Innovation for Green Growth" and "Policy Responses".


Tomorrow - on December 2, the General Assembly meeting of INSME will be held with the participation of the organization members.


It should be mentioned that INSME, which has over 70 members from various countries, encourages the growth of experience sharing among organizations working in the field of SMEs, improved mechanisms in this area, public-private interaction, and global collaboration. Since 2020, KOBİA has been an INSME member.
