“The role of women's entrepreneurship in the economy is growing both globally and in our country. Women have become more interested in starting a small business, self-employment. Their efforts are especially critical under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Developing women's entrepreneurship is among the priority areas of the SMBDA’s activity. The Agency takes measures to stimulate the development of women's entrepreneurship, further increase the number of women among small and medium entrepreneurs, and create appropriate support mechanisms for this purpose”.
The chairman of the Board of Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) (KOBİA) Orkhan Mammadov stated this at the event "Women's National Business Conference / New Opportunities on the Horizon: Green Light for Women Entrepreneurs", arranged in partnership with the Women's Entrepreneurship Development Association in Azerbaijan as part of the Private Sector Development Project funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). It was noted that to date, the share of women entrepreneurs taken advantage of various support measures offered by SMBDA in Baku and various regions to educate entrepreneurs, improve their knowledge and skills, and access to markets and financial resources was more than 30 %. Measures for the development of women's entrepreneurship are taken in close cooperation with them based on the public-private dialogue platforms created for this purpose. The Women's Entrepreneurship Development Association is actively represented in the Public Council under SMBDA. Various measures are being taken to attract women to business and self-employment through the Agency's SMB development centers. Educational events are regularly arranged to inform women of entrepreneurship, innovations, and support mechanisms in this area and study their views and proposals.
