At the conference on "The role of women in the development of the construction sector: Challenges and Prospects", mutual perspectives were shared on expanding women`s activities in the construction industry, encouraging women's entrepreneurship, as well as support measures within the scope of public-private cooperation.
According to the World Bank Group's "Business Ready" report, women working in the construction sector and women entrepreneurs operating in this area constitute the minority. This and other similar international reports highlight improving the position of our country on the relevant indicator, as well as encouraging women to get involved in business activities in the construction industry and expanding women`s business activities in this field, and realizing measures with the assistance of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).
As part of the measures taken to this end, on December 13, the Conference on “The role of women in the development of the construction sector: Challenges and Prospects" was held at the Baku SMB House with the organization of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).
MPs, representatives of relevant state bodies, higher education institutions, business associations and entrepreneurs took part in the conference, which was organized to encourage women to get involved in business activities in the construction industry, investigate development challenges and take appropriate action.
Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA, Hijran Huseynova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of the Milli Majlis and Vugar Bayramov, Member of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee, Mammad Musayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations, Sakina Babayeva, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijan Women`s Entrepreneurship Development Association, and Nigar Alasgarova, Chairperson of the Association of Small and Medium Business Enterprises and Clubs were given the floor at the event. The speakers emphasized women`s role in the socio-economic development of our country, state support measures for the development of entrepreneurship, promotion of women's business activities, stimulating women`s activities in business, particularly in the construction industry, expanding their business relations, joint projects implemented within the scope of public-private cooperation.
Subsequently, channel of communication was made on organizing collaborative events to expand women`s business literacy and skills in the construction industry, and the participants` questions were addressed.
