Discussions held with entrepreneurs operating in the transport and logistics sector

Measures are being taken to evaluate the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on entrepreneurship. Further discussions were held with entrepreneurs operating in the transport and logistics sector, including freight and passenger transportation.

Discussions held by the Ministry of Economy were attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Taxes, Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), Baku Transport Agency, State Road Transport Service, the State Employment Service, National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers). The participants made proposals and highlighted that transport and logistics sectors are likewise affected by the closure of borders in many countries or by the introduction of a special regime because of the pandemic and discussed the ways to minimize these impacts.

Entrepreneurs were informed about the undertaken actions to minimize the impact of coronavirus infection on the private sector, and looked at the areas of the planned measures and relevant proposals.

The discussions stressed the importance of further increasing the social responsibility of the private sector in the current situation. In this regard, entrepreneurs were recommended to avoid layoffs, employee cutbacks, and to demonstrate corporate social responsibility and public solidarity.
