First Meeting of the Co-Chairs of the Azerbaijan–United Arab Emirates Joint Business Council Held

The meeting discussed preparations for the first session of the Business Council, opportunities for expanding cooperation between the business communities of both countries, and the implementation of joint projects.

In the city of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), a meeting was held between the co-chairs of the Azerbaijan–UAE Joint Business Council - Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), and Abdullah Al Owais, Vice President of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). The meeting was also attended by representatives of KOBİA, relevant chambers, and business leaders.

Discussions focused on preparations for the first session of the Business Council, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation between the business communities of both countries and the implementation of joint projects. Emphasis was placed on fully utilizing the potential of the Business Council in sectors that are priorities for Azerbaijan - such as industry, agriculture, tourism, logistics, and ICT. It was noted that ongoing efforts to promote the digital and green transition of SMEs have increased the relevance of bilateral investments in these areas.

It should be noted that in 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-UAE Joint Business Council was signed between KOBİA and the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

The aim of establishing the Business Council is to contribute to the development of economic relations between the two countries by promoting cooperation between their business communities and enhancing linkages in fields such as trade, investment, and industry.

A bilateral meeting was also held between KOBİA and the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The meeting reviewed opportunities for cooperation with the chamber and the use of both institutions’ capacities to strengthen business-to-business connections.
