For the first time in Azerbaijan, "smart" mailboxes were installed in Baku city and Absheron region. Smartpost LLC received a Startup certificate from the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) for the production and operation of "Smart" mailboxes.
According to Samir Ismayilov, Head of Smartpost LLC, for the first time in Azerbaijan, they offer an automated mail service using cloud software: "We developed and launched the project of automated mailboxes for the first time in Azerbaijan. This enables individuals to receive cargo and internet orders from nearby places without having to wait line. These "smart" mailboxes are positioned in high-traffic areas such as supermarkets and business centres. The citizen approaches the terminal, inputs the SMS code sent to him, and takes his lock from the opened box. This innovation, which was first displayed at Technofest, is now available to citizens of Baku city and Absheron region.”
S. Ismayilov stated that in the near future, they intend to broaden the scope of the project and implement it in the regions of Azerbaijan, particularly in other urban centres.
The entrepreneur emphasized that their postal services are different from traditional postal service: "In the traditional service, you have two options for receiving your order: either by travelling to the post office, or having to wait for the postal representative. On the platform we present, a new and more convenient way is utilized: the citizen can pick up his order without wasting time and without having to wait in line. This is also known as a "pick-up" service. Here, the citizen chooses where and when to take the order."
S. Ismayilov also noted that about 10,000 people have benefited from this service so far: "About 100 "smart" boxes have been installed in Baku and Absheron. Products supplied by cargo firms from abroad and products from local internet merchants might be received through these boxes. More things ordered from abroad are now accepted."
