Food Festival was held in Shamakhi

In the Shamakhi region, a Food Festival was held to popularize the cuisine of the Mountainous Shirvan economic region and promote the products of farmers and entrepreneurs operating in the region.

The festival, arranged by the Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD) in partnership with the European Union, was attended by farmers and entrepreneurs living in the Mountainous Shirvan and Shaki-Zagatala economic regions, tourists, representatives of the Shamakhi Region Executive Power, the State Agency for Tourism, and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA).

Speaking at the festival, the chairman of the SMBDA Board Orkhan Mammadov noted that the Shamakhi Food Festival demonstrating the achievements of the agricultural and food sectors is also important from the standpoint of establishing and expanding business ties, SMBs’ access to new sales markets, and developing agritourism. It was noted that the agriculture and food industry are among the sectors where micro, small, and medium business is most active, and the Agency supports SMBs operating in these areas through various services and mechanisms. SMBDA arranges special stands for SMBs at various local and international exhibitions and festivals and provides them with the opportunity to demonstrate their products for free. To date, the Agency has supported the participation of more than 200 startups, micro, and small enterprises in various specialized exhibitions. Promoting entrepreneurship in tourism is always among the priorities in the SMBDA’s agenda. As part of the project "Developing entrepreneurship and self-employment in villages" with the participation of the State Agency for Tourism and other relevant bodies, in the Ismayilli region, 15 business entities – rural guest houses have been created; similar projects will be implemented in other tourist regions.
