Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Small and Medium Business Development (SMBDA) Orkhan Mammadov held a meeting with Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi.
During the meeting, Orkhan Mammadov informed about the SMBDA’s activity, state support for SMBs during the pandemic, the Agency's support mechanisms and social entrepreneurship initiatives. Also, it was brought to the attention that the restoration of the territories liberated from occupation as a result of the 44-day Patriotic war is a priority for Azerbaijan. It was noted that in accordance with the strategy determined by the state, the SMBDA provides for the implementation of appropriate measures for the business recovery in these territories, the organization of entrepreneurship, the formation of the small and medium-sized business sector.
It was noted that at present, entrepreneurs willing to establish a business in the liberated territories submit their business projects to the SMBDA. With the support of the Agency, the first business entity to start operations in Shusha city has been a bakery and confectionery shop.
Stressing the great potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries in all fields, including supporting small and medium businesses, the ambassador Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said that the implementation of joint investment projects in the border territories liberated from occupation will be useful for SMBs of both sides.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on cooperation between two countries in the field of SMBs and the expansion of ties in this direction. Projects to be implemented jointly with foreign investors in liberated territories, development of trade relations, the establishment of cooperation between SMBDA and Iran Small Industries and Industrial Parks Organization (ISIPO), and other relevant agencies of the two countries were also discussed.
