KOBİA presents the "Karabakh SMBs" project to the public

The "Karabakh SMBs" project jointly implemented by KOBİA and the State Employment Agency aims to offer support for improving the social welfare of war participants, veterans and families of martyrs, and provide employment.

 

The presentation of the "Karabakh SMBs" project, organized by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), the State Employment Agency, Development Corporation under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, and implemented at the expense of the grant allocated by Pasha Holding, was held.


The event was attended by representatives of relevant state bodies, members of parliament, businesspersons and representatives of business associations, as well as war participants, veterans, and members of martyrs' families engaged in the project.


The presentation commenced with the singing of the national anthem of Azerbaijan followed by a minute's silence in memory of the martyrs who made tremendous sacrifice for the territorial integrity of our country.


Subsequently, a video about the "Karabakh SMBs" project was displayed.


Sahil Babayev, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, pointed out the active employment programs carried out in the liberated territories and noted that the employment of about 70% of the able-bodied residents relocated to these territories has already been ensured. It was reported that as part of the social support package for the families of martyrs and war participants in the post-war period, the employment of 20 thousand people from these categories was ensured, as well as some 11 thousand people were involved in the self-employment program, and about 10 thousand people were provided with work. The minister emphasized that more than 1 million people have been covered by employment measures in the last 5 years, and underlined that the "Karabakh SMBs" project will play a substantial role in supporting the social welfare and employment of martyrs' families and war participants.

 

Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), delivered information on the "Karabakh SMBs" project, the significance of self-employment for starting a business, and the projects implemented by the Agency in this field together with relevant agencies. It was reported that the "Karabakh SMBs" project is also part of the attention and support provided to the participants of the Patriotic War in our country, and is being implemented in order to support the improvement of the social welfare and employment of veterans, war participants and their family members, martyrs' families. The project covers Baku city, Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Shaki and Zagatala districts. The participants who have already joined the project will receive the necessary training by KOBİA to expand their business knowledge and skills and will be awarded relevant certificates. Participants who successfully complete the training will have the opportunity to take part in vocational training in their chosen field of activity and will be granted the required equipment as part of the self-employment program. A total of 50 new business entities will be established within the project.
