Recently, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), under the Ministry of Economy, awarded "Startup" certificates to 10 more micro and small business owners. With this, the total number of SMBs receiving the mentioned certificate has reached 174. It is important to note that individuals who own small and medium businesses are exempt from profit and income taxes for three years from the date they receive this certificate. This tax exemption allows entrepreneurs to redirect the savings into the development of their businesses, which ultimately leads to the creation of new job opportunities.
Newly established startups offer various solutions that will make life easier for people. For example, they provide the opportunity for individuals to rent out their cars through a mobile app, introduce new payment solutions, and launch online commerce platforms.

The startup founder, Novruz Novruzov, has stated that he created the "Yellow GO" app specifically for this purpose. Through this platform, customers will be able to rent out their vehicles without the need for face-to-face meetings with the business owner. The innovation doesn't end here. All solutions within the app are digitized. The project founder emphasized that the goal of this startup is to contribute to digitalization in the country. Another beneficial feature of the app is the ability to sign an online contract with the vehicle owner while renting a vehicle. Additionally, due to the automated system, the app also provides the functionality to obtain power of attorney documents online. According to N. Novruzov, in the future, alongside ground transportation, the platform will also feature yachts and even helicopters available for rent. The app will soon incorporate a GPS tracking system, which will allow users to track the rented vehicles. The startup founder specifically emphasized that the "Startup" certificate greatly aids in discussions with both government agencies and private companies, making the project more secure and trustworthy.
"Autoparks will be managed through a single app."
One of the newly certified "Startup" projects, "Avtomend", will be responsible for this. The project founder, Nusrat Mammadov, mentioned that with their developed software, services such as cargo transport, freight, and any other transportation services will be managed through this program, allowing them to be controlled from a single center. No less than almost two years have been spent to complete this platform. In the future, the app will include useful features such as the automatic issuance of road permits, fuel report generation, and automatic fuel filling processes. In the forthcoming versions, artificial intelligence will make analytical calculations more accessible. As for how the 3-year exemption from income and profit taxes will impact entrepreneurs, N. Mammadov mentioned that the savings will be channelled toward expenses such as office rent and the hiring of qualified employees.
Utility payments for buildings will soon be made available online.
The "BillKill" platform, created by startup founder Cavid Musayev, is an innovative and digital payment platform designed primarily for entrepreneurs. According to the project founder, the platform was developed to simplify the process of debt calculation, through it, users can easily and quickly make cashless payments via websites, bank apps, and payment organization apps without any additional costs. Also, through platform, residents will be able to easily pay for building maintenance fees from their home, workplace, or even from abroad. The platform also offers useful features, such as the ability for users to track their payment history, receipts, debts, and detailed information about each payment in their personal account.
Buying the printed products is as close as a phone call, without having to visit a printing office.
The "Printfable" platform, created to fill the gaps in the printing and typography sector in Azerbaijan, has also received the "Startup" certificate. The founder of the project, Asim Safarli, emphasized that the platform will bring together users, designers, and printing companies. If any company needs printed items such as t-shirts or mugs for project implementation, there is no need to look elsewhere, incur extra costs, or waste time. The desired price of the product is sufficient to obtain offers from relevant companies for placing design elements on the platform.Those without design ideas have not been overlooked either.The app is set to integrate artificial intelligence, which will offer tailored recommendations to users. A. Safarli stated that they intend to expand the project to the global stage by the end of 2025.The mentioned tax exemptions make this goal even more achievable.
Halal products will be presented to buyers through single app.
The "Jumma" app, which align halal and Islamic law-compliant products, is also among the projects that have received the "Startup" certificate. This platform offers a wide range of products, from food to non-food items, allowing users to easily find various types of halal products. Additionally, the platform designed specifically to simplify the search of halal products for citizens, offers a key feature that sends notifications for Friday prayers. The app also displays the daily prayer times. Additionally, by suggesting information, users can contribute to expand the range of halal products available on the platform. Regarding the advantage of the tax exemption, startup entrepreneur Murad İsayev mentioned that the savings will be allocated towards expanding the project, carrying out technical improvements, and organizing promotions and campaigns within the website and app to enhance customer satisfaction.It is worth noting that the issuance of "Startup" certificates in Azerbaijan began in 2021.
This certificate is submitted to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs that are micro and small business entities. If the applicant is not a micro or small business entity, or if it is determined that founders who are medium or large business entities hold more than 49% of the shares in the legal entity, or if the applicant is not a resident taxpayer, KOBIA may refuse to issue the "Startup" certificate.
