Participants of the self-employment program can benefit from the SMBDA support and services for business development

The self-employment program provides favorable opportunities for those wishing to engage in micro- and small business activities. The Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SMBDA) values citizens involved in the self-employment program as potential micro- and small entrepreneurs and provides support for the development of their business as part of the program to those who have established their own household, i.e. micro business. Thus, within the framework of the program, SMBDA provides Business Planning and Consulting services, access to preferential financial resources, sales and market support and services for business development at a later stage to participants who have established a micro business by acquiring relevant assets. So far, about 30 participants of the Program, provided with various assets as part of the self-employment program, have benefited from the SMBDA support and services for business expansion.

The Agency encourages the former participants of the self-employment program who were provided with various assets to contact SMB friends of SMBDA to support the development of their business at a later stage.

It should be noted that citizens wishing to join the self-employment program can apply to the local employment centers of the State Employment Agency or use the simplified registration system created by the Agency, as well as benefit from the SMBDA support and services. SMBDA provides support to citizens who want to join the program in several directions. These include providing information and coordination, participation in the training process, support for the development of business plans, participation in the process organization. Thus, SMBDA informs those wishing to join the program through the "SMB friends" network operating in different regions and cities of the country about the advantages and conditions of the Program, provides technical support for their registration via e-sosial platform and links to the local employment centers. So far, about 350 citizens have benefited from the support of SMBDA to join the Program. The administrative offices of the Agency in different cities and regions are used for training of the Program participants. SMBDA also supports the Program participants in the development of business plans. This process is more active now, since in 2020, the Program participants were provided with relevant equipment based on business plans, without being trained. Furthermore, SMBDA, together with the State Employment Agency, reviews the households of eligible candidates and participates in the process of issuing assets to participants.
