As part of the Annual Meeting of International Exhibition and Conference Organisers held in Baku, the role of exhibitions in the development of SMBs was the subject of discussion.

On January 16, the annual meeting of International Exhibition and Conference Organisers started its work in Baku with the organization of the Azerbaijan Exhibition Organisers Association (ASTA) and the support of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).

It is worth highlighting that Azerbaijan has recently emerged as a host country for international events in the region. A variety of international exhibitions and business events held in our country are an obvious manifestation in this respect. These events bring together representatives of numerous industries and serve as a platform for firms from different countries of the region to exchange experience, establish business relationships and shape new prospects. In general, exhibitions have a multiplier effect that benefits business development and boosts economic activities in the region. Hotels, restaurants, transport firms and other businesses are given the opportunity to improve their revenue as a result of the increasing number of visitors. Furthermore, organizing exhibitions encourages the growth of city infrastructure, as well as tourism and hotel industry, and improving the investment climate in Azerbaijan.

It is no coincidence that exhibition experts around the globe have gathered here in Baku. Thus, our country successfully serves as a host to the largest regional events. This is demonstrated once again by the fact that Azerbaijan was entrusted with organizing the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). For over 25 years, Azerbaijan has hosted various exhibitions spanning the most significant aspects of the exhibition industry.
