The event focused on the scope of the new technical regulations, their role in enhancing consumer satisfaction, and the opportunities their implementation will create for business entities. Participants’ opinions and proposals were also heard.
A public hearing and discussion of the draft technical regulations prepared by the Ministry of Health “On the Safety of Perfumery and Cosmetic Products,” “On the Safety of Synthetic Detergents and Household Chemical Goods,” and “On Tobacco Products and Similar Goods” was held at the “Baku SME House” through the joint organization of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).
The heads of the Standardization, Technical Regulation and Certification Department of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, Elmaddin Guluyev, and the Deputy Head of KOBİA’s SME Friend Department, Rauf Taghiyev, delivered remarks.
In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of aligning quality and safety requirements for the mentioned product groups with international standards, enhancing consumer satisfaction, and the role of technical regulations in improving the operations of business entities. Stakeholders were also invited to actively participate in the public hearing and express their proposals.
During the event, a presentation was delivered by Teymur Teymurov, representative of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, covering the areas addressed by the draft technical regulations, key safety requirements, their application in the conformity assessment process, and their role in improving quality standards.
The question-and-answer session held at the end of the meeting continued with active discussions, and the opinions and suggestions of the participants were listened to.
For information, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue conducting a series of activities aimed at ensuring active stakeholder participation in the development of technical regulations, including the organization of public hearings and discussions on other new national draft technical regulations.
Note: Within the framework of the “State Program on Aligning the National Standardization System with International Requirements for 2023–2025,” approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 43 national draft technical regulations have been prepared by the relevant state bodies.
