Public Hearing and Discussion Held on Draft Technical Regulations Concerning Machinery and Equipment, Lubricants, Light Industry, and Furniture Products

The event provided information about the essence of the new technical regulations, their role in ensuring consumer safety, and the advantages they would bring to market participants. Participants’ opinions and suggestions were heard.

A public hearing and discussion on the draft technical regulations titled “On the Safety of Machinery and Equipment,” “On Requirements for Lubricants, Oils, and Special Liquids,” “On the Safety of Light Industry Products,” and “On the Safety of Furniture Products” was held at the Baku SME House, jointly organized by the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA).

At the event, Elmaddin Guliyev, Head of the Department for Standardization, Technical Regulation, and Certification of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control, and Rauf Taghiyev, Deputy Head of the SME Friend Department of KOBIA, delivered speeches. In their remarks, they emphasized the advantages of the new technical regulation drafts in ensuring the circulation of safe and high-quality products in the domestic market, protecting consumer interests, and strengthening a competitive environment for business entities. Entrepreneurs were also encouraged to actively participate in public hearings and discussions and to submit their proposals.

During the event, a presentation was shown on the sectors covered by the technical regulation drafts, their key safety requirements, their application in the conformity assessment process, and their role in improving quality standards.

The meeting concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants’ opinions and proposals were discussed in detail.

For reference, the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue organizing a series of events aimed at ensuring active stakeholder participation in the development of technical regulations, including public hearings and discussions of new national technical regulation drafts.

Note: Within the framework of the “State Program for the Alignment of the National Standardization System with International Requirements for 2023 -2025” approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, relevant state authorities have prepared 43 national draft technical regulations, and 33 draft regulations have been published on the Service’s official website (https://competition.gov.az/az/page/qanunvericilik/texniki-reqlament-layihelerinin-ictimai-dinlenmesi-ve-muzakiresi) for public hearing and discussion to gather feedback and suggestions from interested parties.
