During the panel discussion organized within the framework of the 'AIM Congress,' KOBIA provided insights into the opportunities and support tools created for SMEs in Azerbaijan, as well as the measures taken for their green transition.
Representatives of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) participated in the Annual Investment Meeting ('AIM Congress') held in Abu Dhabi, UAE. In the panel discussion titled 'SME Development Strategy: Expanding SME Activities for Success,' Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of KOBIA’s Board of Directors, provided information on the opportunities and support tools available for SMEs in Azerbaijan. Additionally, the KOBIA Chairman shared his thoughts on the 'green economy' transition, discussing the 'Joint Declaration on the Green Transition of SMEs in the context of COP29' introduced by the Agency, as well as the active efforts to implement environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESC) principles in the private sector.
KOBIA representatives also visited the booth of the 'CLIMASEL' startup team, which represented Azerbaijan in the AIM Congress International Startup Competition, and exchanged ideas with young entrepreneurs on foreign investors' interest in the project. It is worth noting that a national tour was organized by KOBIA to select startups for participation in the 'AIM Congress,' and the 'CLIMASEL' project, focused on the production of smart panels for buildings, emerged as the winner. The startup project authors are students of Baku Higher Oil School.
During the trip, KOBIA representatives met with Dilshod Jurazoda, Director of the Tajikistan Investment Agency, Ibrahima Diane, Vice President of the Guinea Chamber of Commerce, John Mvendwa, Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Investment Authority, and Mansurjon Rasulev, Director of the Uzbekistan Investment Promotion Agency. The meetings focused on opportunities for joint cooperation, exchange of experiences in entrepreneurship, and discussions on trade and investment collaboration between SMEs.
