A panel meeting on "The role of transport and logistics centres in expanding bilateral trade turnover" was held in Baku.


As part of the Azerbaijan- Türkiye Investment Forum, a panel meeting was held on the subject "The role of transport and logistics centres in expanding bilateral trade turnover".


Shahin Bagirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Ozgur Volkan Agar, Deputy Minister of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye, Rahman Humbatov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Akin Konyar, CEO of "Ikra Logistik", Natig Hasanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), and Fatih Sener, vice-chairman of the International Transporters' Association, took part in the panel discussions.


At the event moderated by Kamran Habibov, Chairman of the Freight Forwarding Association of Azerbaijan, the importance of friendship and fraternal connections between our countries with shared values, as well as our strategic alliance was stressed, and suggestions for strengthening the cooperation portfolio were expressed.


It was underlined that exploring and achieving new potential for cooperation can make significant contributions to our nations` long-term economic development and close integration into the global economy. The panel discussion stressed the geo-economic significance of the location of Azerbaijan and Türkiye on vital transport junctions, as well as capitalizing on the opportunities of transport corridors and potential projects.


The event also featured discussions on the potential prospects of port infrastructure in enhancing mutual supply in the further development of mutual trade to achieve the goals set by the heads of state, the modernization of checkpoints, rather  effective  pursuit of the opportunities of the Middle Corridor, the status and development prospects of mutual trade under the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), investment avenues in Azerbaijan in transport, the role of transport and logistics corridors in the development of SMBs.
