The next Small and Medium Business Friend ("SMB Friend") of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan has started its activities in Shamkir region. Thus, the number of SMB Friends operating in Ganja-Gazakh economic region has reached 2 and 18 overall in the country.
An event dedicated to the start of the activity of SMB Friend in Shamkir was held on October 16 with the organization of SMBDA and the support of Shamkir Region Executive Power. The information about SMB Friend mechanism as well as services and support to be provided to micro, small and medium businesses by SMB friend was given at the event organized with the participation of entrepreneurs and government representatives in Shamkir and surrounding regions.
Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, said that SMBs operating in Shamkir and surrounding regions could address “SMB Friend” in the areas, such as opening a business, expanding existing business activities as well as protecting their rights and interests. The SMB Friend will provide support and services to entrepreneurs in the fields, such as information, consulting, training, legal assistance, and coordination with government agencies. By inviting entrepreneurs to work closely with “SMB Friend”, Orkhan Mammadov said that the SMB Friend network would cover other cities and regions of the country as well.
Alimpasha Mammadov, Head of Shamkir Region Executive Power, briefed on the economic potential of the region and opportunities to expand entrepreneurship activities and expressed his confidence that SMB Friend will support small and medium businesses.

An educational video clip on domestic market research, a new government support mechanism for SMBs, was shown at the event, where it was highlighted that entrepreneurs could apply to SMBs to benefit from this support.
At the end of the event, the entrepreneurs got acquainted with the “SMB Friend” office, which operates in Shamkir Youth Center, and received answers to their questions.
