SMBDA held meetings within the MUSAID Expo 2020 exhibition 19.11.20

Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) held several meetings within the MUSIAD Expo 2020 in Istanbul, where the economic and investment opportunities of Azerbaijan in liberated lands was presented.

During the meeting between Orkhan Mammadov, the Chairman of the Management Board of SMBDA, and Eyup Vural, the Chairman of Istanbul PPP Center of Excellence, it was highlighted that the special attention was paid to expanding the implementation of the PPP model in Azerbaijan, the Public-Entrepreneurial Partnership Development Center was established for that purpose in SMBDA. It was noted that Turkey had successful and rich experience in the implementation of PPP projects, and the cooperation with the Istanbul PPP Center of Excellence was important and beneficial for both sides.

The meeting focused on the study of Turkey's experience in the field of PPP, the formation of a platform on experience exchange using the resources and services of both sides, the organization of joint events, the opportunities of using the PPP for the reconstruction of destroyed public infrastructure in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan and other issues of mutual interest.

Then a Protocol of Intent on the cooperation in the development of public-private partnership was signed between the Public-Entrepreneurial Partnership Development Center of SMBDA and Istanbul PPP Center of Excellence. The protocol was signed between Orkhan Mammadov, the Chairman of the Management Board of SMBDA, and Eyup Vural, the Chairman of Istanbul PPP Center of Excellence. The Protocol of Intent envisages joint cooperation and organization of events in the fields of exchanging information and experience in the field of PPP, conducting trainings and seminars, promoting the involvement of foreign investment from Turkey through the PPP model, supporting the preparation of relevant projects, etc.

At the meeting held with Burak Daghlioghlu, the head of Turkey's Presidential Investment Office, Orkhan Mammadov, the Chairman of the Management Board of SMBDA, gave information about the SMB sector in Azerbaijan, the activities of the Agency and its support to SMBs, noted SMBDA's cooperation with Turkey's institutions operating in the related field. It was noted that attracting foreign investment is also among the activities of the Agency, and SMBDA provides support and services to local entrepreneurs to establish various enterprises in our country based on foreign investment. SMBDA may cooperate with Turkey's Presidential Investment Office on studying Turkey's experience in investment promotion, organizing relevant trainings in this field for the Agency's employees, implementation of joint projects in agricultural, infrastructure, industrial, ICT, real estate and other areas, organizing mutual field business missions and identifying relevant partners. It was noted that within the framework of this cooperation, SMBDA might provide conduct of relevant partner and domestic market research by Azerbaijan, provision of appropriate consulting services, etc. Noting that the economic and investment potential of the liberated territories of Azerbaijan within the MUSIAD Expo 2020 was presented at the stand "Karabakh is Azerbaijan" and our stand was met with interest by Turkish investors, Orkhan Mammadov said that joint cooperation is possible to promote Turkish companies' participation in potential investment projects.
