The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan attended the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Italy and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Rome.
Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, shared information on the activities of the Agency and made several proposals for the expansion of cooperation between the SMBs of Azerbaijan and Italy at the meeting where cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, economic, logistics, agriculture, and tourism among other sectors was discussed. It was noted that the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Italy Business Council, development of cooperation between SMBDA and relevant agencies, chambers of commerce and business associations of Italy, establishment of joint ventures in Azerbaijan with the participation of SMBs of both countries, exchange of information on potential investment projects, organizing study tours of Azerbaijani SMBs to Italy, as well as enterprise visits and training courses, implementation of joint innovative projects would be important for the development of cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Italian SMBs.
During the visit, SMBDA representatives met with Sergio Arzeni, President, and Giovanni Zazzerini, Secretary-General of the Italian International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME). At the meeting, SMBDA representatives shared information on the development of the SMB sector in our country and SMBDA measures in this area. It was noted that the Agency has extensive relations in the international arena and has an interest in establishing cooperation with INSME and other relevant bodies in Italy. Participation of the Agency at the INSME events, holding joint events, organization of mutual business missions, exchange of information on potential projects, and other possible opportunities for cooperation were discussed at the meeting where the SMBDA membership to the organization was reviewed.
