SMBDA to continue supporting self-employment program 05.03.21
SMBDA to continue supporting self-employment program

Citizens wishing to join the self-employment program can also benefit from the support of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA). For this purpose, along with the electronic platform and Territorial Employment Centers, they can also apply to SME Friends operating in Baku and other regions of the country.

In 2019-2020, about 400 citizens used the SMBDA’s services to join the self-employment program.

In connection with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, SMBDA also took an active part in transferring assets to citizens based on a business plan without participating in training as part of a self-employment program. Thus, in 2020, the Agency provided support in developing business plans to more than 70 residents of the Khachmaz, Guba, and Gusar regions. SMBDA also supports the ‘Social Gardens’ project implemented as part of the program. Last year, the Agency supported about 40 residents of Lankaran, Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz, and Shamakhi regions in setting up gardens.

It should be noted that SMBDA supports the self-employment program in two ways. The Agency provides support in informing citizens wishing to join the program, registering them in the appropriate system, and coordinating with Employment Centers, participates in inspecting the candidates’ farms, training those participating in the program, and transferring assets to them. At the next stage, SMBDA provides those who have built their businesses under the program with free support and services in business planning, consulting, access to preferential financial resources and sales markets, etc.
