
During the meeting, discussions were held between business representatives from both countries on potential directions for future cooperation and the implementation of joint initiatives and projects.
The 6th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Saudi Arabia Joint Business Council was convened in Riyadh as part of the 8th session of the Joint Commission on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fields of economy, trade, investment, technology, culture, sports, and youth.
Organized by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) of Azerbaijan and the Federation of Saudi Chambers, the event brought together officials and entrepreneurs from both nations. Among the participants were nearly 30 representatives of Azerbaijani companies and business associations engaged in industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, construction, pharmaceuticals, services, architecture and design, logistics, tourism, and renewable energy.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Investment, Khalid A. Al-Falih, exchanged views on the economic and trade relations between the two countries, as well as opportunities for investment and export.
The co-chairs of the Business Council Ahmad Ali Al-Dakheel, CEO of Al Rajhi International for Investment, and Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of KOBIA along with Zohrab Gadirov, Deputy Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), spoke about the prospects for enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries, the support and services offered to local and foreign entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, and the ongoing activities of the Joint Business Council.
Participants also held discussions on how to leverage the Council’s potential to implement joint ventures and projects and to further expand bilateral business cooperation.
As part of the event, ACWA Power delivered a presentation on its ongoing projects. In addition, B2B meetings were held among business representatives.
The forum also witnessed the signing of two important agreements including, memorandum of Understanding in the pharmaceutical sector between Azerbaijan’s Parla Pharmaceuticals and Saudi Arabia’s National Development Group Holding, initiated by KOBIA and agreement on maritime infrastructure cooperation between ADO-G (Azerbaijan) and SMI/BLUE MASAR (Saudi Arabia).
