
The "Support to the Development of Beekeeping" project implemented in Dashkesan region with the support of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) and the organization of "AzerGold" Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) has been completed.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chairman of the Board of AzerGold CJSC Ogtay Mammadov noted that the main mission of the project is to contribute to the development of small business ecosystems in the region, the promotion of beekeeping as an eco-entrepreneurship and increase natural honey production. He noted that such projects, which are regularly implemented by the society, serve to support socio-economic state programs and to improve the welfare of the population. He stressed that relevant projects will be implemented in the future to promote small and medium enterprises in the region.
Anar Aliyev, KOBİA's coordinator for Ganja-Gazakh economic region, spoke about the organizational, legal and economic measures taken to develop entrepreneurship in the region, the favorable environment for business, support mechanisms provided to businesses, and the project's contributions. He noted that regular contacts will be maintained with local farmers involved in the training and support will continue.
Then, beekeepers operating in Chovdar, Bayan, Gushchu and Zeylik villages of Dashkesan region, who took part in the training and practical classes, were awarded certificates. As part of the event, nectar-producing acacia trees were planted in Dashkesan region, and 120 bee families fully equipped with the necessary equipment and relevant medicines were presented to farmers.
It should be noted that within the initial phase of the project, AzerGold CJSC organized a meeting with beekeepers to identify opportunities for local communities to benefit from the project, identify difficulties faced by farm owners in beekeeping and ways to overcome them, as well as exchange views on initiatives. In the next phase of the project, the consultants involved in the identified needs conducted three-day theoretical trainings and workshops on spring care for bees, brooding and breeding of queens. Within the framework of the program, methodical instruction booklets were distributed in order to increase awareness on the treatment and prevention of parasitic diseases, the application of innovations in this field. At the same time, the expert of the SME Development Center of KOBİA held a seminar for farmers on access to financial resources, organization of agrarian insurance. The trainings answered farmers' questions and exchanged views.
