Turkiye - Azerbaijan Regional Economic Forum Held in Kars

Turkiye - Azerbaijan Regional Economic Forum was held in the city of Kars with the participation of Azerbaijani and Turkish business representatives. For this purpose, a delegation of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs — including members of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Entrepreneurs Confederation and representatives of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) — visited Kars.

Organized with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kars, in collaboration with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkiye (TOBB), the Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and KOBIA, the forum brought together business representatives from both countries operating in various sectors of the economy. Also in attendance were heads of regional chambers of commerce from Turkish provinces such as Ardahan, Ighdir, Aghri, Erzurum, and Van, as well as regional directors of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Turkiye (KOSGEB).

The forum aimed to inform Turkish business circles about the favorable business and investment environment in Azerbaijan — particularly the business opportunities available in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic — and to foster the expansion of entrepreneurial ties, promote bilateral trade, and encourage cross-border commerce.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Turkiye Rashad Mammadov, Kars Governor Ziya Polat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KOBIA Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kadir Bozan, and Deputy Chairman of KOSGEB Selim Serkan Ercan made speeches on the topic and shared their ideas and proposals on the expansion of economic and trade relations and interregional cooperation between our countries, as well as new areas of cooperation.

As part of the forum program, Azerbaijan and Turkiye delivered presentations highlighting the business and investment potential of both countries, particularly in the area of cross-border trade. Companies also spoke about their activities and potential areas of cooperation.

During the visit, Azerbaijani entrepreneurs toured a number of enterprises operating in Kars and held bilateral meetings with local business representatives.

Additionally, KOBIA representatives met with Kadir Bozan, Chairman of the Kars Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Ziya Polat, Governor of Kars, and Otuken Senger, Mayor of Kars. The discussions focused on cooperation among business communities, opportunities for expanding interregional ties, utilization of cross-border trade potential, and joint initiatives between relevant organizations. KOBIA representatives also visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kars.
