Two-Day Seminar on Green Climate Finance for SMBs was held

About 90 participants from OIC member countries attended the event.

The seminar titled “Strengthening SMBs in OIC Member Countries through Green Climate Finance” was held from July 9-10, as part of the cooperation between KOBİA and the Statistical, Economic, and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC).

The two-day online seminar included experts on green climate finance, representatives of relevant OIC member country structures, specialists from international organizations, and SMBs from various countries, including Azerbaijan.

Mr. Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of Management Board of SMB, and Mrs. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, General Director of SESRIC, highlighted that the seminar was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the parties this year and shared their views on the role of SMBs in green climate finance and collaboration opportunities in this field.

Participants included representatives from the Islamic Development Bank, UN Environment Programme (UNEP), Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Support Organization (KOSGEB), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance, as well as representatives from Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Turkey, and other countries, as well as the presentations covered topics such as implementing smart technologies in the face of climate change, sustainable finance for SMBs, the OIC platform in this field, the effectiveness and future of climate finance, and opportunities for “green SMBs” in Azerbaijan, with answers provided to participants' questions.
