A presentation on the concept of a single digital platform for ESG was held

The creation of single digital platform for ESG will be substantial for coordinating activities in the relevant field and managing informative resources related to ESG.

As part of the activities of the sub-group on "Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) Standards" within the Working Group on "Corporate Governance, Investments, and Corporate Social Responsibility" of the Business Environment and International Ratings Commission led by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), the presentation on the concept of a unified digital platform for ESG was held.

The event organized at the "Baku SMB House" was attended by representatives of government institutions, local and international private companies and organizations that are members of the subgroup, as well as authorities of  other stakeholders.

Vusal Shikhaliyev, head of the sector of Economic policy and industry matters  department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan and head of the secretariat of the commission on Business Environment and International Ratings shared his ideas on the necessity and importance of creating a single digital platform for ESG, and noted that this platform would play a crucial role in coordinating activities in the relevant field and managing informative resources related to ESG.

In his speech, Natig Hasanov, the first deputy chairman of the Management Board of KOBİA and the head of the ESG subgroup, stated that the ESG platform would make a positive contribution to environmental and sustainable development issues, as well as to indicators related to environmental performance in international rankings.

Later,Ulviyya Akbarova, advisor on partnership and development issues at the UN Office in Azerbaijan, presented the concept of the single digital platform for ESG. 

Boris Janjalian, an international expert on ESG of International Finance Corporation, articulated  on international practices in the relevant field.

During the event, issues arising from the creation of the single digital platform for ESG were put on the table, including the project implementation format of the concept, as well as the proposals and recommendations of international experts for ESG were heard, and participants' questions were addressed.

The event carried on with discussions on thematic areas, and roadmaps and implementation projects for these thematic areas were agreed upon and adopted at the end of the event.
