
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Ministry of Economy jointly organized a hybrid event on "Digitalization of companies in Azerbaijan". The event was attended by representatives of a number of government agencies, as well as embassies and chambers of commerce of the OECD member countries in Azerbaijan.
The event was addressed by Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Mammadov, Head of the Economic Cooperation with Eastern Partnership Department of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gerard Odaz and others, reports on "Promotion of digitalization of companies in Azerbaijan" and "Accelerating the digital transformation of business in the Eastern Partnership countries after COVID-19" were presented and discussed.
Speaking at the event, KOBİA Board Chairman Orkhan Mammadov stressed the importance of OECD initiatives in the field of digitalization of SMEs in Azerbaijan, spoke about the work done in the country in this area, as well as the priorities for SMEs. It was noted that SMEs, which play an important role in economic development, make up the vast majority of business entities in the country, and their development in line with modern trends, including digitalization, is important. The pandemic has had a negative impact on the activities of SMEs and has made digitalization even more urgent. Taking all this into account, the government pays special attention to the widespread use of digitalization. Orkhan Mammadov informed about the digitalization of SMEs, the support and services provided to them by the Agency.
