Euro-2020 games to create promising opportunities for SMBs

Euro-2020 Games to be organized in Baku will provide promising opportunities for small and medium businesses (SMBs).

The sales of products manufactured by SMBs will be organized at the Fan Zone of Euro-2020 to be held in Baku and the surrounding areas of the stadium to support SMBs. To this end, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) will cooperate.

On February 19, the event entitled "Euro-2020: Perspectives for SMBs" organised by SMBDA and AFFA with the participation of more than 150 SMBs, provided information on benefits of SMBs from such prestigious events as the European Championship-2020, expansion of sales opportunities, and answered the entrepreneurs’ questions of interest.

Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, noted that the Euro-2020 Games to be hosted by Azerbaijan this year, will not only contribute to the development of sports, especially football in our country but also provide favourable opportunities for the sale of products of SMB entities. It was highlighted that special stands would be set up to support the sales of SMB products in the relevant area where the games would be held within the cooperation of SMBDA and AFFA. It is intended to sell various food products, souvenirs, gifts, clothes, and other products manufactured by SMBs. This cooperation will also provide an opportunity for the promotion of Azerbaijani products, and for local and foreign football fans and guests of our city to use various services (shopping, catering, etc.) during the games.

Elkhan Mammadov, Executive Vice President of AFFA, briefed on the upcoming Games to be organized in Baku within the framework of Euro-2020 and highlighted the importance of the games for the development of tourism and entrepreneurship along with the development of sports.

The event featured a presentation entitled "Euro-2020 and business opportunities," and a film about the activities of SMBDA.

Later, SMBDA and AFFA signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the support of SMBs during the games to be held within the framework of Euro-2020. Orkhan Mammadov, chairman of the Board of SMBDA, and Elkhan Mammadov, Executive Vice President of AFFA, signed the document.
