Given that our country countless opportunities in the health tourism field, an event was held in the city of Naftalan to expand the engagement of the private sector in realizing the potential in this field, as well as to hear the proposals and expectations of entrepreneurs.
Representatives of the relevant state bodies and entrepreneurs attended the event on "Development of health tourism: current state and potential business opportunities" organized by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), the State Tourism Agency and the Naftalan City Executive Power.
The event is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
Speaking at the event, Vugar Novruzov, Head of Naftalan City Executive Power, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA, MP Anar Mammadov, Elnur Malikzadeh, Adviser to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, shared their insights and pointed out to the fact that tourism, including health tourism, is one of the priority areas of the country's economy, and significant attention should be attached to the city of Naftalan in this area. It was underlined in the speeches that about 20 sanatoriums, resorts and hotels are operating in the city of Naftalan. Seeking treatment, thousands of people visit Naftalan city every year. The number of people expressing interest in Naftalan from the CIS, near and far areas is growing year after year. This allows for the development of joint ideas for tourism enterprises, as well as the establishment of various interregional tourism routes. Health centres in the city of Naftalan are of significant importance not only in the development of tourism, but also in the expansion of the activities of numerous SMBs operating in other sectors, particularly in public catering and services, in the overall economic development of the city, as well as in stimulating employment.
At the event, individuals shared mutual ideas on the lack of human resources and how to tackle challenges emerging in this area, the activities of insurance companies in the expansion of health tourism, the development of corporate cooperation in this field, marketing in the tourism market, as well as expanding the range and quality of services.
The State Tourism Agency and KOBİA will consider the issues and proposals expressed during the session for the realization of joint initiatives going forward.
