Harvesting starts in the lavender-growing farm located in the Chukhur Gabala village of the Gabala region in the coming days. Before harvesting, volunteers from the Gabala-Oghuz "SMB Friend” office of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency’s (SMBDA) Shaki-Zagatala Coordinatorship and the Gabala Youth Development and Career Center, as well as specialists from the Gabala State Professional Education Center, visited the lavender farm and expressed interest in flower plantations.
According to the information provided by the SMBDA’s Gabala-Oghuz "SMB Friend” office to the regional correspondent of AZERTAJ, the lavender plantation area was recently expanded to 26 hectares, and a new bee balm-growing farm was created there. The farm also starts manufacturing organic lavender honey soon. In the past, SMBDA has advised the lavender farm on obtaining appropriate certificates, coordinating sales, finding local partners, as well as state support mechanisms for entrepreneurs. The Agency has also supported the Gabala lavender farm in establishing ties with the Lankaran “Green tea” farm. As a result, within the framework of cooperation, entrepreneurs began to produce green tea with lavender additives. Herewith, within the framework of this cooperation, a test lavender planting was performed on a half a hectare area of the “Green tea” farm.
The organization has noted that foreign guests visiting our country show great interest in lavender farming in the Chukhur Gabala village of the Gabala region. This farm is also important for the development of eco-agritourism. Herewith, such farms are useful to train specialists in the relevant field and the further proper arrangement and development of similar farms. Creating permanent and seasonal jobs (for 50-60 people) in new farm areas is of particular importance for expanding the rural population employment.
