Information on young entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan provided at the Global Business Forum

"Big Boss" Global Business and Innovation Forum was held in Glasgow, Scotland as part of "Global Business Week 2023".

At the event, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) conveyed information about young entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan, support mechanisms for the business activities of young people, and the activities of the Agency.

It was underlined that raising the share of SMBs in the economy, employment and exports is one of the primary goals of the SMB. Young entrepreneurs also play a role in achieving these goals. Around 27% of the economically active population in Azerbaijan are young people who are also interested in business activities. Surveys and studies showcase that young entrepreneurs encounter challenges regarding lack of business skills and access to financial resources and markets. KOBİA provides support to young entrepreneurs in the abovementioned areas within the scope of various mechanisms. The liberated territories of Azerbaijan will become another critical impetus for the development of business, especially young entrepreneurship, in the near future. The planned "green economy" and "smart city" concepts in the Karabakh region will turn the region an attractive hub for new innovative businesses.
