A meeting on the annual activity of the Public Council under Small and Medium Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and on the events planned for 2020 was held. Representatives of SMBDA, heads of 15 non-governmental organizations and associations, which are members of the Public Council under the Agency, attended the meeting.
Speaking at the event, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, noted that the purpose of the meeting was to hear the report on the first year of activity of the Public Council, hold discussions on the plans of the Council for the next year, and study expectations of Public Council from SMBDA and agency’s proposals. The participants emphasized the importance of more active participation of the Public Council in informing and educating entrepreneurs about the activities and support services of the Agency in 2020, issues faced by entrepreneurs in different sectors of the economy, close cooperation with SMBs to enhance the activities of business associations and making proposals and initiatives in this direction.
Then a report on the one-year activity of the Public Council under SMBDA was heard. Farhad Garashov, Chairman of the Public Council, said that the council was established in November 2018 to enhance public participation in the Agency, implement measures for the development of small and medium businesses and ensure the public supervision over the activities of SMBDA, expand mutual relationship between the agency and people, include the business community. Public discussions were held on education, access to financial markets, healthcare, tourism, and the role of public councils in the development of SMBs with the organization of Public Council in the past. The next public discussion - a forum of young entrepreneurs will be held on December 10. It is expected to organize such activities regularly given their effectiveness. Additionally, the Council took part in drafting the Agency's amendments to the SMB legislation, measures, and projects to educate entrepreneurs, and submitted several proposals to the Agency.
The one-year activity of the Council under SMBDA was discussed at the meeting, and proposals made by members were reviewed.
At the event, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA was awarded the "Pomegranate" badge for supporting farmers engaged in pomegranate farming and the association's activities, and Members of the Public Council were presented with letter of appreciation for their active participation in the work of the Council by the Azerbaijan Pomegranate Manufacturers and Exporters' Association.
