The enhanced use of innovative technologies in Azerbaijan leads to the development and growth of e-commerce turnover. The community-based online shopping platform by Wegros Azerbaijan LLC is one of startup ventures bringing innovation to the field of e-commerce in our nation.

Sanan Hasanov, Co-founder and director of Wegros Azerbaijan LLC, noted that the country's manufacturing and service companies place their products and services on their platform: "Companies are encouraged to further place their products on the platform via a special cabinet created for their use, then monitor their sales, and check their reports - which products are sold the most, which ones are in the highest demand."

S. Hasanov also pointed out to the fact that with the platform, they can secure the sale of products both in the domestic and global markets, for which sellers will pay a certain amount of commission. A bonus system has also been established for platform users, so that the individual who purchases the product in this manner earns cashback. In addition, the user is refunded cashback bonuses for attracting new users to the platform.

The entrepreneur stressed that the major distinguishing feature of its platform is its community-based nature: "We form the customer base of any product listed here, we conduct certain communications, in this way customers are given the opportunity to build up their own communities for their products and make presentations through them."

The entrepreneur also mentioned that they launched active sales on the platform in January and received a start-up certificate from the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) last month.

The platform has 8,500 users to date. Although Azerbaijan has the vast majority of its customers, a customer base is already emerging in Russia, Türkiye and Kazakhstan: "One of our primary goals is to broaden the scope of the platform by strengthening its technical software. We have recently started working with a large holding firm operating in in Türkiye that is involved in information technologies. They have offered us assistance and partnership in this area, and negotiations are already underway. We will be able to obtain effective software, if we cooperate with them. The software we are currently utilizing can meet the requirements of 1 million customers, however since our target is 10 million and more, we need to advance the software and move towards."

According to S. Hasanov, their community-based platforms will allow them to compete in Türkiye and Russia markets: "Community-based approach will accelerate our progress. Additionally, applying a "gaming approach" on the platform, we provide a set amount of bonus for each stage. For instance, suppose a person makes his first purchase and receives a bonus, then makes a second purchase and receives another bonus. If he invites someone to the platform and informs that person about it, he will receive an additional bonus. Forming such a mechanism is a feature that sets us apart from our competitors."

According to the director, they have invested about 80,000 manats in the project so far. To attract new investment, they are currently participating in the "StartupWiseGuys" (https://startupwiseguys.com/) program: "By joining this international platform, we hope to attract additional investment. We will update the technical software of the platform, after we attain our goal."
