SMB development centers to be launched in 2020

In 2019, a total of 23 training courses, 9 online awareness-raising events, 7 seminars, 2 round tables, and other educational events were held by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku and regions of the country to educate micro, small and medium businesses, to increase their knowledge and skills, and improve the quality of vocational training. More than 8 thousand SMBs attended the events on business development, increasing financial literacy, corporate governance, sales and marketing, public-private partnerships, etc.

SMBDA has partnered with state agencies, international organizations, business associations, and NGOs to conduct educational events involving local and international experts, and has used a business partnership platform in this area.

In addition to the theoretical knowledge at the events, practical information and skills were presented to entrepreneurs in various enterprises and farmsteads, and successful entrepreneurs in business shared their experiences.

Furthermore, in 2019, 38 entrepreneurs and managers were trained in professional development and enterprises in Germany within the “German-Azerbaijani Joint Program for the professional development of Managers in the Business Community of Azerbaijan," which is coordinated by SMBDA from Azerbaijan and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) from Germany. In total, 422 entrepreneurs and managers have benefited from the program so far. About 40 businessmen and managers will be trained in professional development courses in Germany this year.

SMBDA is planning to launch an online training platform and small and medium business development centers for entrepreneurs to increase their knowledge and skills.
