SMBDA held a meeting with entrepreneurs to study the impact of the coronavirus on the freight and logistics sector

The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan held the meeting with freight and logistics companies to study the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection on the activities of Azerbaijani companies in domestic and international freight transportation.

At the meeting, discussions were held with businesses in domestic and international freight transportation on the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on freight transportation and logistics, ways out of problems and expectations of entrepreneurs, and proposals were highlighted.

Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, noted that Azerbaijan is a part of the world economy and the processes taking place on a global scale affect our country. Coronavirus infection can affect sectors such as trade, tourism, transportation, and logistics. The purpose of the meeting with freight and logistics companies is to get detailed information from entrepreneurs about these impacts, to discuss with them solutions and proposals.

During the meeting, freight and logistics companies noted that there are delays in the delivery of goods due to the closure of borders in many countries or the introduction of a strict regime, and the inability to fulfil contractual obligations related to the transportation.

The proposals made by business entities at the meeting will be summarized and submitted to the relevant agencies.
