Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) was held in an online format on October 28 in partnership with the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SMBDA) and with the organizational support of "Education HUB". The purpose of the Forum organized for the 2nd time in Azerbaijan is to highlight the role of Social Entrepreneurship in the socio-economic development of the country, the innovative means for achieving a number of goals of the State and to study international experience in this field.

Representatives of state agencies, international organizations, embassies, MPs, non-governmental organizations, and entrepreneurs took part in the online event.

Speaking at the Forum, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SMBDA) Orkhan Mammadov shared his views on the importance of Social Entrepreneurship, development and promotion of this sphere in the country. It was noted that increasing self-employment, involvement of vulnerable groups, including low-income families, population living in the regions, especially women in social business is of positive importance and state support measures are carried out in this direction in Azerbaijan. SMBDA supports the development of Social Entrepreneurship in our country and successfully continues the projects initiated over the past period with respect to socially vulnerable groups. The Agency will continue to support and participate in the implementation of the projects with social entrepreneurs, supporting and promoting Social Entrepreneurship, improving the legislative framework that combines additional support and incentives in the field of Social Entrepreneurship.

At the Forum, Orkhan Mammadov also informed about the damage caused to the settlements as a result of Armenia`s military provocation against Azerbaijan, the destruction of civilian facilities, civilian casualties and the injury of hundreds of our citizens since September 27. It was noted that as a result of Armenia`s acts of vandalism, more than 250 business entities in 9 cities and districts of Azerbaijan were damaged. At present, appropriate measures are being taken to clarify the damage caused to entrepreneurs and necessary support will be provided to entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the online event, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Sadagat Gahramanova, Chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency Mustafa Abbasbeyli, MP Mushvig Jafarov, and others expressed their views on the importance of Social Entrepreneurship, promotion of this field in our country. Foreign speakers, in their turn, shared their experience in the field of Social Entrepreneurship and informed about the legislation of different countries in the field of Social Entrepreneurship, discussed the establishment of social business, innovative solutions for social development and intersectoral cooperation for Sustainable Development. Panel meetings were also held.
