The activities of cinemas were discussed against the background of easing restrictions

One of the sectors affected by COVID-19 is cinemas. According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated September 24, 2021, from October 1, the activities of cultural facilities (including concert halls), as well as conference halls, cinemas, theaters, are allowed, provided that the total capacity does not exceed 50%.

On December 30, the activities of cinemas were discussed against the background of easing restrictions on the pandemic, organized by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) and the CinemaPlus cinema network. The event was attended by Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CinemaPlus Zaur Darabzadeh and Chairman of the Board of SMBDA Orkhan Mammadov and the activities of cinemas after easing restrictions were discussed.

Chairman of SMBDA noted that the easing of restrictions on the activities of cinemas is important for the revival and development of the cinema sector. It was stated that the pandemic has created new norms of behavior and realities. The proliferation of online service platforms has had a significant impact on people's viewing of new movies.  But in any case, cinemas are able to withstand innovative technological developments and compete. The development of culture and the creative industry, including cinemas and the film sector, is on the government's priority agenda. Chairman of SMBDA stressed that the proposals and ideas raised during today's discussions, as well as joint activities in the future will contribute to the further revival of the sector.
