The conference “World Net Summit” also discussed expanding SMBs access to innovation

Expanding SMBs access to innovation, measures and mechanisms of state support in this area were discussed at the international online conference "World Net Summit", co-organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, United Nations Development Program and "FA International Trade Events" LLC in the frame of "InnoWeek – Innovation week 2020".

Orkhan Mammadov, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Small and Medium Businesses Development Agency (SMBDA), gave information about support and services provided to improve access of SMBs to innovation, SMB development centers aimed at the development of innovative entrepreneurship and providing access to business knowledge and skills, as well as business incubators operating in these centers. It was noted that the next SMB Development Center to be established would be innovation-based. Digital modeling and production training process will be implemented in this center. Also, the model of joint use of the most modern equipment by entrepreneurs will be applied for the first time. The country's legislation also defines norms that provide a wide range of privileges and tax benefits for startups and their innovative activities. A while ago, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed SMBDA to finance the education, science, research, and support projects related to the development of micro, small and medium businesses in the country and organize competitions to implement this funding. This support mechanism will increase the interest of SMBs in innovative activity and encourage producing new ideas in this direction. Orkhan Mammadov also informed about the educational and promotional measures implemented by the Agency to promote innovative activities of SMBs, stimulate startups, as well as the "International Startup Competition 2020" held in partnership with the SMBDA and answered questions during the event.

"InnoWeek – Innovation week 2020", organized with the participation of local and foreign government agencies, private sector representatives, international organizations, hosts conferences, forums, and exhibitions featuring the latest innovations in the field of high technology and innovations.
