The Path to Entrepreneurship – Take Your First Step into Business with the Self-Employment Program

Citizens who wish to join the Self-Employment Program may apply not only through local employment branches and the online platform but also via SME Friends.

The Self-Employment Program offers a favorable opportunity to embark on entrepreneurial activity. For this reason, since 2019, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBIA) has been closely cooperating with the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, providing support at various stages of the program. Citizens who wish to join the program as well as former participants aiming to expand their businesses in the next phase can apply to the SME Friends operating in more than 50 cities and districts across the country to receive assistance.

KOBIA supports the Self-Employment Program in two key directions. The Agency assists citizens who wish to participate in the program by informing them, registering them in the relevant system, and facilitating communication with employment branches. KOBIA also participates in the inspection of candidates’ enterprises, the training of those involved in the program, and the distribution of productive assets. At a later stage, citizens who have already joined the program and received various assets can benefit from KOBİA’s services such as consultancy, business planning, access to sales markets, and more to further develop their enterprises.

It is worth noting that between 2019 and 2024, nearly 800 citizens have benefitted from KOBIA's various forms of support and services in order to join the Self-Employment Program.
