On March 2, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany signed a Joint Declaration of Intentions to continue cooperation in raising the qualifications of managers working for Azerbaijani companies.
The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Economy Sahib Alakbarov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the German Embassy in Azerbaijan, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ); it was noted that cooperation in this area had been performed since 2009. The document has been signed for 3 years and provides for cooperation in improving the qualifications of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and managers. The program coordinators in Azerbaijan and Germany are SMBDA and GIZ, respectively.
Note: The goal of the Joint German-Azerbaijani Program for Raising the Qualifications of Managers Working for Azerbaijani Companies is strengthening the state support for the development of small and medium businesses in Azerbaijan, expanding the theoretical and practical knowledge of entrepreneurs and managers in German training centers, familiarizing them with innovative management techniques and methods at German enterprises, and establishing economic cooperation. In 2009-2020, 451 Azerbaijani entrepreneurs and managers working in various sectors of the country's economy passed training and acquired work experience in various cities of Germany. According to GIZ, in 2017-2019, about 40 contracts were concluded between companies of the two countries under the Program.
