A greenhouse farmstead has been launched in Saritapa village in Shamkir with the support of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. SMBDA provided support in the areas, such as consulting and legal advisory services, coordination with relevant government agencies, information on public support mechanisms, and access to them to expand the activities of the greenhouse farmstead of Azagro LLC.
The project was implemented based on an investment promotion document. 2.3 million manats were invested in the project. Flowers are cultivated in the one-hectare field in the greenhouse created according to the project based on innovative technologies from the Dutch company Cherthon. The annual production capacity of the farmstead is 1.5-2 million pieces of flowers. The greenhouse farmstead will also positively contribute to the growth of non-oil export and the provision of employment in the region. The flowers grown here will be sold both in internal and external markets (Georgia, Russia). 30 local residents are employed in the greenhouse farmstead.
Alimpasha Mammadov, the head of Shamkir Region Executive Power, who delivered a speech at the event, said that the support of SMBDA was essential for the successful implementation of the project and that the start of the activity of SMB friend in Shamkir will support entrepreneurs operating in the region.
Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA, said that development of entrepreneurship, especially small and medium businesses is one of the priorities of the socio-economic policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and gave information on the state support measures and the activity of the Agency in this direction. By noting the importance of the establishment of greenhouse facilities for the development of the SMB sector, Orkhan Mammadov said that state support would be delivered to SMBs as well as their projects, and it would be continuous.
